Even though the arrival of the summer can scare goths (you might just get a tan!) it’s also a time to be excited: the summer festivals are on their way! The fourth
Amphi Festival in Cologne will take place on the 19th and 20th of July 2008, and for the third time in a row Gothtronic will be there. What our reporters and photographer will be doing there? Probably running, since the festival has such an amazing line-up it will be hard to decide what to see.
This time the two stages won’t have a theme, well, they both have the same theme: great music! In two days 34 of the best bands in the gothic scene will hit the stage in Cologne. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights of this year – before the end of this article you’ll be ordering your ticket :) |

Saturday will see the return of
Welle:Erdball to the main stage. Their gig two years ago was a blast, so expect something even better! Before that it’s up to BlutEngels redhead Constance to entertain the public with well known gothic ‘pearls’ she re-recorded for the debut album of
Cinderella Effect . The end of the day will be a thrill for those of you who enjoy the comfort of the mainstage: besides the ever swinging
Covenant and
OOMPH!,
Deine Lakaien will surely blow the audience away. |
|
For those of you who are still afraid of getting a tan: don’t worry, the theatre Stage is still there! Big names such as
Das Ich,
L’âme Immortelle and
Suicide Commando will entertain the people inside. The Saturday night will be closed by
Project Pitchfork and
And One. |

Hopefully you’ll all get some rest before Sunday, it’s going to be a busy schedule! The main stage will be featuring the best bands to make you dance; if you can keep standing still while
Grendel,
Ashbury Heights and
Tactical Sect are playing you probably got lost at the wrong festival. But don’t give your all yet, the evening will be closed by probably an amazing gig of
The Klinik and the always successful
Combichrist! |
|
For those of you who want to get away from the harsh beats there’s again the theatre. This Sunday a lot of ear- and eye candy will hit the stage! It’s always a pleasure to look at the guys of
Cinema Strange for instance, be seduced by the beautiful women of
Spectra Paris, be entertained by the theatrical show of
Soko Friedhof or hear some great rock music by
Lacrimas Profundure. The end of the evening will see the return of
Diary of Dreams to the theatre – if that show would only be half as good as the one two years ago it will still be worth going. The closing for the festival will be done by
Die Krupps. |
