On the Big Chill website Mixmaster Morris said “when a new artist makes a real attempt to do it like Marvin Ayres then I say hooray". He is making his mark as one of the great Ambient Producers. His recordings are stylistically diverse as ‘Ambient’ and ‘String Design’ He has produced sensual Jazz and film soundtracks, combining classical technique with improvisation in new technologies.
A graduate of Trinity College of Music, Marvin was a founder member of the cult band ‘The Government', and toured extensively throughout Europe. He made solo contributions to other bands and solo artists throughout the late 80’s and 90’s, notably members of Culture Club, Simply Red, Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Prefab Sprout.
In 1999 he signed to the Avant-Garde label Mille Plateaux, as composer/producer, releasing two ambient albums to critical acclaim, Neptune and Cellosphere
