First of all, when i read about the description of Agonoize as a band, when ‘Paranoid Destruction’ came out, you were compared to Suicide Commando so i thought, yeah right, another mediocre clone, but the music of Agonoize exists in its own right so introduce yourself please. Who are you and what is your individual musical background?

Mike and Olli are working on different projects,so as SERO.OVERDOSE and INFEKKTION.Mike has also released his solo project VIRTUAL EMBRACE,which is a mixture between noise and trance. They also got a mixing and mastering company. I have been working on a lot of different projects from EBM to DEATH METAL.I got a industrial-rock project wich is called .UNKOWN. and i´m also backgroundsinger and keyboarder of DANCE OR DIE.

I listened to your debut CD Assimilation: Chapter One and like your sound and songwriting. Where do you get the inspiration from?

We´re all hanging around in the dark scene for years now.I´m working as dj for a long long time and we are all music lunatics for mostly all styles of music.Mainly you get your inspirations everyday from where ever you are.You switch on the tv see a small child raped and murdered, sick people making politics, see people raping the resources of earth and fucking the planet or you see one nation having war with another, just simply for territorital reasons, thats inspiration enough i guess. And we don´t like the oppression of the catholic church and others who want to tread us to believe in their way of faith. Free your mind.

Do you have any musical influences or idols yourself? How does that relate to your individual musical activities?

We all love to listen to bands like delerium, skinny puppy, fla, massive attack, moby, paul oakenfold, blank and jones, nin, ... and we all grow up with 80´s pop & wave. Mike especially is into 50´s and 60´s, Olli and i are into old school ebm and rough guitar music.

What’s the creative process like for yourself? Is it a real band effort, or? Could you tell us something more about the recording process of the Assimilation: Chapter One album?

Mike and Olli started that project on their own,but they where looking for a singer who could fullfill their visions of rudeness, especially on stage, that´s where i came in.I was knowing mike for a while, because he was one of my tattoo-artists and they where visiting me very often when i was working as dj.so one day they ask me to be the singer, because of my experience on stage.I listened to the music, liked it and here we go.When i started to work with them most of the songs where already done, so i just worked on a few songs on this album.

What’s been the overall reception of the album? How do you feel about that? Does that differ from country to country. Do you have insight on this yourself?

The sales are pretty good for a "newcomer" and most of the clubs in germany play our songs on and on.The press is fifty-fifty,they are not sure if they are going to like or to condemn us,but who cares? We do the music we like to do and i guess we do it pretty well. But germany has always been slow with accepting bands from they´re own country, but the rest of the world seems to like what we are doing. It´s very early to say a lot about that, we´re just existing about two years.

Is there a message or central theme you want to bring across to people with your songs? What is important for you when you write a song?

Hmm,a message? It´s ok to hate yourself,as long as you hurt nobody else. For us it is very important to bring our music to the dancefloors, thats what our music is made for.

I noticed your singer doing weird things with blood and needles on stage. Does he own a tattoo parlor? Could you tell something more about your stage show?

No,mike is the tattoo artist in the band and he got his own tattoo-shop in berlin-spandau and he is an amazing artist, just look at my body during the next show.I just did piercings for 6 ½ years, yeah, and that´s where this show-part comes from.I mean,it´s not that hard to put some needles in your body, but it hurts the customers eye, some of them even wan´t to puke,so hey, what´s wrong with it? At least they remember your bandname the next day, even if they don´t like you and your music.

What was your best live experience so far?

For me it was to play in front of 22000 people, but that was before agonoize. No, actually i enjoy every agonoize concert, doesn´t matter if people show up or not. They let me do what i want to do on stage, even if it´s rough or rude.

One of the most dancefloor friendly tracks on Assimilation: Chapter One has got to be the track ‘Death, Murder, Kill’. Will there be a new single or EP ?

Yes,but not with any of those tracks from the assimilation-cd.So,the next ep will come around april and there will be 6 brand new tracks only available on this ep.

How’s the scene in Berlin? Are you in contact with other Berlin based artists regularly?

Berlin is like a small village,so, most of the musicians in berlin know each other and most of them are in friendly relationships. The scene in berlin changed a lot over the years, like right now.It has been better, but for our style of music, hmm,it looks very good.

What’s the coolest club to visit over there?

There aren´t any regular clubs you can go every week anymore. Most of the dj´s,like myself, are doing partys always in different locations. If you wanna see a cool bar visit the last cathedral horror bar,at schönhauser allee 5,that´s a freaky place to go,and the music is allright as well.

Is there a band that you would really like to tour with now? Or are there already some concrete plans?

We never thought about to go on tour with a special band,i think that doesn´t matter that much. For this year we´ve only planned to do the festivals and put out the second album around october.Touring is not a concern right now, just focussing on the releases.

Aren’t you afraid that your music will be seen as 13 in a dozen or get negative reactions because there seems to be a dark electro hype going on?

We don´t care about hypes!!!!!! We do what we want to do,so,who the fuck will be the other 12 ???? They should take care of us....

What are your opinions on the underground electronic music scene in general? Do you think we live in interesting times or do you think there’s much stagnation?

In times where 50% of the charts are coverversions of old 80´s songs i would say for the major releases we are at a dead end. There isn´t much really innovative music coming out these days,so,we don´t know where it all will end.Music business needs a fresh impulse.Sometimes it seems that everybody is putting out a cd,so it´s hard sometimes not to ignore the really good newcomer. That´s a problem in the underground scene as well. If you get to listen to 20 crap bands a week than it´s difficult to find the innovative one´s.

Do you think the electronic scene is more and more regaining interest in synthpop again?

Not at the moment. You got a packed dancefloor with noise or hard hitting beats, but for the clubs there is just a little chance for synthpop. It turns out to be a home listening thing at this time.

How do you feel about the support of your label BLC Productions ? It seems they are doing quite well in the US at least are they?

We split off a few weeks after the release of the album. We´re dealing with several companies right now.

When will we be able to see you guys on stage again in The Netherlands?

We hope as soon as possible.

Imagine this. You are left alone on a desert island. What records would you take with you? Any literature?

Records? No chicks? Oh dear, that will be a bad time.Ähh,yes, i think something to calm down like Conjure One or Delerium,in contrast, stuff, something like Fear Factory or Rob Zombie. For reading probably a playboy or charles buckowski, something to get rid of that growing sexual desire you have after a few days.

How does the average day of Mike, Oliver or Chris look like? Do you have a regular day job?

Yes,we´re all working in music related jobs, but as freelancer,so we can take off if we like to.

What plans do you have for the future? What can we expect from you?

Like already said, a new ep will come out around april, the second album around october. We´re planning to play as much festivals as possible all over the world this year,so check out our webside www.agonoize.com for tourdates. And you can never be sure of what we´re doing next,so be afraid....

Would you like to say any last words to the Dutch readers?

Watch out,we´re coming for sure back to the netherlands a.s.a.p.. stay dark...
