The fourth edition of the Dynamo Underground Fest took place at the basement of the Dynamo venue; literally “underground” this time. They weren’t expecting many visitors and the basement stayed fairly empty this evening. Remarkably, after the second band, Obszön Geschöpf, only a small group of people remained.
The duo of
Hæckefløsse started the evening with their strong industrial and a taste of metal. Clad in glittering aluminum coats Hæckefløsse brought a bunch of songs from their album Deceived and probably also from their second album that will be out soon. I am not yet familiar enough with their work to distinguish the songs. On the wall next to the stage some images were projected, visible because the audience stayed at a respectable distance. Much space is not available for the artists and perhaps therefore the guitarist eventually jumped off the small stage. I found the songs of Hæckefløsse to sound a bit alike after a while and my attention got lost in the way.
Obzsön Geschöpf is something completely different and I find it hard to describe. Singer Remzi Kelleci looks like he’s full of drugs. The bass player has a sack over his head and the guitar player has some make up to make him look like covered in blood. Both of them are standing in front of the stage and as the concert is progressing they start to hit, kick and spit each other with enthusiasm. Half empty beer cups are trashed against heads and thrown away. Spit and beer are gushing
lavishly until it all becomes really revolting. And all that time there is that look in the eyes of Remzi as if he can freak out every moment. One thing is sure; they manage to create an atmosphere that is really something different and they even get the change to give an encore as well.
A bunch of visitors leave Dynamo before the main act of the evening starts, which is striking.
Sybreed brings a rigid metal that reminds me of the power metal like Pantera at some occasions. Only at times. Somehow Sybreed can’t catch my real attention this evening and I am feeling weary after a short while. I cannot imagine this is due to Sybreed, but rather the empty venue and loss of atmosphere. The fans have stayed and are amusing themselves nevertheless until Sybreed eventually call it the day.
This edition of the Underground fest is clearly the least one up till now, which is really a pity. With more visitors it clearly would have been a successful party. Unfortunately this was a poorly visited evening. When the performing bands are playing in the neighborhoods next time, I surely will visit them again because I cannot imagine this evening was motivating for them as well. Perhaps with the exception of Obszön Geschöpf, who seems to have a hell of a time. Review by: Nando
