As I have mentioned before Dwaalspoor certainly has a nose in selecting interesting band. If I am looking back on the Dwaalspoor festival I can only conclude that Dwaalspoor again managed to book some really interesting gigs. Together with some very good merchandise stands such as Cold Spring Records De Baroeg had plenty to offer to its audience. Â
Opener act
Satori managed to impress me with its dark visuals and blend of ambient, industrial and rhythms. A promising start for the festival and a promising band on which I anticipate its forthcoming release “Black Helicopters”. Â
After a fairly long wait the second act
Der Feuerkreiner entered the stage. Musically a interesting mixture of (danceable) electronics, opera and industrial varying from serene and tranquil till more aggressive songs. A pity that this Italian act did not have the time to do a thorough sound check. Especially the first two songs had some technical problems resulting in the fact that this performance balanced between mesmerising and chaos. Â
After Der Feuerkreiner patience certainly was a virtue. It took more than an hour in order to organise the performance of
Jännerwein. This with the result that a larger part of the audience had to catch their last train, leaving De Baroeg with only witnessed two acts. And that’s a pity because these young Austrian lads certainly know how to entertain its audience with beautiful visuals and well performed music. Combining “classic” neofolk and European folklore I can only conclude that this act has managed to give a solid and enthralling performance, leaving the audience hungry for more. Â
After that
Kriegsfall-U managed to overwhelm me with its hard power electronics/industrial combined with martial influences. The martial drumming, cool samples aggressive vocals, and harsh electronics has resulted in a powerful and threatening performance with ditto visuals. In my opinion Kriegsfall-U was the most intriguing act of this night. It left me no choice; immediately buy their self titled debut cd released on Cold Spring. Â
Unfortunately we had to miss Der Blaue Reiter because of the time. And that’s a shame since I can appreciate its music.  Although I and a large part of the audience did not have the chance to see all of the acts perform Dwaalspoor again has left a good impression with an intriguing line-up. Let’s hope they will be back with another edition of this festival in the near future! Review by: Erik
