Requiembryo

The album opens with a ballad like track, the guitars transform the song a bit more towards in extremo like sounds, especially when the flutes appear. The female vocals at the end give it a quite unique feel. The 2 nd song “Coming Home” uses fragments of lyrics used before (2 nd album). However the setting is changed such that the atmosphere is quite different. “De Profundis” a merry song (at least in sound) has more electronic sounds than the previous songs, making it incomparable to the other tracks. Further on the album a “Fremde Traume” is told, a falling dream, and another about being in a long hallway where all metal rusted doors are locked, as soon as he finds out one is not locked he notices he is not alone…..

“:Duett (Das minnelied der Incubi)” is again quite merry and contains Subway to Sally influences. The album also contains an instrumental impression of “Die Schmetterflug”. After this the most industrial track follows after which their hit “Ich bin ein wahrer Satan” with even more similarities to Subway to Sally, which has reached the German charts, this success could not be unexpected. Nevertheless on this album it adds even more variation. “Errinerung eines Fremden” is instrumental again; another ballad “Das Erwachen” adds additional emotions to the album.

The 2 nd CD of the album starts with a 27 minute song split into 7 parts, which are all quite different. Probably a bit too long to be played on the radio, which is a shame since the mixes are perfectly balanced and create a nice changing variable track. Food for DJ’s This 2 nd album has some quieter songs than the first CD and slightly less variation, nonetheless it remains an interesting mix of influences (from Subway to Sally, In Extremo, Rammstein, Cephalgy, the Cruxshadows, Type O Negative and Tiamat), it is by far the most variable album I have heard recently. The exception on the 2 nd CD is “The 6 th of September” with additional vocals to create a distinction, a bit faster and lots of electronic influences, possibly a 2 nd hit from this album.

Overall a very creative conclusion of the “Schmetterling” series, hopefully ASP will be able to keep up this level of musical creation which brings hope for the albums to come.
