The French techno wizard Vitalic is back with the long expected new album. It is called Flashmob and it shows why Vitalic has become hot very rapidly a couple of years ago with his hit ‘My Friend Dario’, since also Flashmob contains techno electro that swings and grooves like hell. ‘Poison Lips’ is an excellent electro tune with a dose of soul and disco in which the spirit of Gorgio Moroder wanders and ‘Flashmob’ combines the best of Daft Punk and Motor in a steaming track. These two tracks are truly sublime. ‘One Above One’ can easily be played on the radio with its catchy pop feel. ‘Second Lives’ shows that the return of 90’s rave in the sound of The Prodigy hasn’t missed its impact oin Vitalic too. New wave and synthpop as well as EBM can be traced in the sound of Vitalic without sounding outdated, on the contrary, the electronic sounds of Vitalic sound darker than before and with that also quite urgent and fitting in the current zeitgeist of economic downfall. ‘Terminateur Benelux’ dives back into darkness with its cowbells, electro grooves and blunt beats. Finally the impressive track ‘Station Mir 2099’ shouldn’t be left unmentioned. Flashmob is a recording that with each listening gets better and this always is a very good thing.
