This record is sounding very German. And I don’t mean the typical German voice female singer of Suzan D’ Iavollo. It’s more the atmosphere of the album. The Gothic-Rock is very traditional en does remind me of Sisters of Mercy and
London after Midnight from time to time. The childlike voice of Suzan is a bit odd and is something you have got to love. Her voice is somewhere between Monica Richards (Faith and The Muse) and German Pop singer Nena. This Gothic-Rock has got many nice ingredients. The Rock is mixed up with some Metal riffs and also we get to hear some 80’s wave on this record. Only the 2
nd part of the album is less interesting. The tempo has gone down and it seems like there are only ballads left. Unfortunately not all of them are powerful songs. The modern riff structure of ‘Komm, wach auf’, makes this song more an Nu-Metal song than a Gothic-Rock song. And the English ‘World of Wonders’, is kind of bad. It is hanging between a few different styles, but none of them are worked out to a nice end. This makes this song boring. The next song ‘Schrei nach dir’ is very good. Nice atmosphere and good structures. The pity is that the songs which is closing the album is not that strong either. After all this is a nice album and I’m sure it will do well with the German Rock fanatics.
