All Hail The Transcending Ghost

<< Back

In front of me I have a new CD from Henrik Nordvargr Bjork (Mz 412, Folkstorm, Thoroid and many more) a man who never sleeps but seems to make music constantly. All hail The Transcendent Ghost is his newest brainchild together with Tim Bertilsson from Swedish sludge act Switchblade. Together they awake the dormant beast from its hibernation with grim incantations. As soon as they enter the small abandoned dungeon where a cold wind is scourging they are sucked up into a vacuum, into another world of sepulchral visions. Both men have created dark buzzing drones and howling feedback. The atmosphere is haunting. The landscape created is that of the lost, where ghosts roam and evil meets.

However I was mostly not very impressed by work of Nordvargr in the past except from a few like Mz 412 I am now with All Hail The Transcending Ghost where dark ambient meets the sludge-doom vibe of Tim’s growling guitar. Gritty textures and whispering ghosts entwined in cavernous drones like silk wet moss. Bare chords cleave the dense atmosphere of evil. It is hard to breath in these suffocating and claustrophobic subterranean chambers. All hail The Transcending ghost is a demonic journey through the darkest regions where disease is spread with black hearted serenity.

All Hail The Transcending Ghost is without arguing the bleakest and darkest ambient record for this year and is breathing the neck of likes such as Lustmord. This record is an absolute must have if you like lustmord’s [Other]. Dark, acrid and gritty with deep pulsing textures that will hold a tight grip on you.
