Here it is. The debut of the German tanzmetal band Grimm. After we received their first promo a couple of years ago it is now time for the release of the first album. The quality of the tracks and the production of this genre colleague of bands such as Unheilig, Eisbrecher and Die Krupps has clearly been improved. ‘Konsumier Mich’ contains more subtle electro rhythms, nice sounds and the groove is as thick as in the original version. Furthermore this debut contains more catchy tunes with ‘Parasit’ and ‘Tanzen’ which contain a harsher guitar sound and remind of Rammstein. By the use of his voice singer Jan Sorensen reminds strongly of this very successful German band. Unfortunately the track itself doesn’t offer the same quality. Striking is the use of cello and violin which clearly has enriched the sound like one can hear in ‘Schon’ and this also goes for the female vocals of Catharina Jesus which are a nice counterpart to the harsh electro-industrial and guitar sounds. This gives the band a quality in itself for sure. Also ‘Energie’, ‘Ameisen, ‘Prophet’ en ‘Tiefer’ are, despite the somewhat unoriginal repetition of lyrics, convincing tracks which make the balance on this album with regards to good tracks go in positive direction. Fans of the Neue Deutsche Haerte genre and bands like Megaherz and Eisbrecher should surely check whether they like this band. Grimm definitely has got the talent.
