Hellboy II: The Golden Army

<< Back

Impatiently I have been waiting for the sequel of the original 2004 Hellboy movie (directed by Guillermo del Toro). Now finally Hellboy II: The Golden Army is playing in cinemas in Europe. And it was well worth the wait because the second movie of our beloved red hero is even better then the first one!

This time Hellboy (Ron Perlman) and his companions Abraham Sapiens (Doug Jones), Liz Sherman (Selma Blair) have to overcome the powers of the elf lord Nuada (Luke Goss) who is set to destroy mankind by waking the century old Golden Army. Besides that a lot of personal thing are lurking. Liz and Hellboy have some personal problems. Abraham Sapiens falls in love with the beautiful elf Princess Nuala and there is a new team-leader of the crew giving Hellboy a lot of trouble adjusting in his new role in the team.

It is best not giving to many details and spoil all the fun. Guillermo del Toro, which also made the first Hellboy movie, has started writing the story together with the creator of Hellboy; comic maker Mike Mignola. Hellboy 2 has a more in-depth story more nasty creatures, more fun, a higher fantasy content and more action then the first movie. Especially the humour is hilarious. Especially the scene of the two drunken buddies Abe and Hellboy is hilarious. Of course there are far too much superhero movies released at the moment (The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, The Dark Knight). This could have his effect on the turn-up of Hellboy 2. But let me assure you; Hellboy 2: The Golden Army has become a very satisfying movie which deserves your place in the cinema!
