Into the Wild

<< Back

After a long exhausting workingday i thought it would be a good moment to go to the cinema, so after diner i walked to Images and found myself a good spot. The film Into the Wild, a story about the life of Christopher mc Candless was about to start. The film is based on the book of Jon Krakauer and the director is Sean Penn. The 22 year old Christopher just finished his exams and after his graduation he was at the beginning of a glorious future. At least, everyone - especially his parents - were expecting the succes of the good student. However, these expectations and the view on his own life  were totally different. After his graduation he gives his money to charity and he leaves for Alaska to still his hunger for a life into the wild. He changes his name so he would not be findable for his family. On his way to Alaska he meets lots of people with their own problems and way of life. From a long lost son to little changes in other peoples lifes, he can make an impression on the people he meets. A nice, sensitive guy on his quest for spirituality and the meaning of life. A good part about the film is that you almost can feel his energy and passion for life and it makes you wonder why you are not travelling with him. Not only from the romantic point of view but also you want to protect him for what is in front of him. Intense, beautiful music from Eddie Vedder and the superb landscapes makes you feel one with the moment. Christopher knows no fear and follow his intuition. This brings him to a point that the nature overwhelmes him. Overconfidence, naive or just the right thing to do. Thats something you have to decide for yourself when you’ve seen the film. But that you are on a fine, wondrous visual journey is a fact.
